AZERBAIJANI SCIENTISTS on the INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE «GEOPETROL-2014″ (Zakopane, Poland)

International scientific conference «GEOPETROL-2014″ was held in Zakopane (Poland) on September, 15 – 21. The scientific conference was attended by representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan – vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, deputy director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Doctor of Science, professor Soltan Aliyev, department head of Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of the ANAS, Dr. Geylani Panahov, leading researcher of IMM of ANAS Eldar Abbasov.
The subject of the conference organized by the State Oil and Gas Institute (Krakow, Poland), with the support of the leading world oil companies, has covered the most current trends in theoretical, experimental and applied research on the implementation of geological and geophysical solutions in oil and gas fields exploration and development, processing and interpretation of seismic data, modeling, evaluation and prediction of reservoir characteristics, technologies of bed stimulation in order to increase oil recovery and enhanced recovery of oil field development with hard-to-recovery hydrocarbon reserves.
Meetings and discussions at the conference were a good stimulus for the development of scientific contacts between scientists from different countries – at the conference was attended by representatives of 12 countries – Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Latvia, France, Italy, Norway, Germany, USA and Canada.
Scientific reports presented by Azerbaijani scientists aroused the interest of the Conference participants. They were devoted to the results of the joint research with the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and Chinese researchers “In-situ gas generation technology – field experience on formations with hard-to-recover hydrocarbons” and a report on “Selection of optimal investment project for oil field development under the economic risk”.
During the meetings and exchange of views Institute of Oil and Gas (Krakow, Poland), Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics and the Institute of Geology and Geophysics come to agreement on mutually beneficial scientific and technological tripartite cooperation in the field of geology and geophysics, fluid mechanics as well as the development and implementation of innovative EOR and IOR technologies.
