On October 29, the institute seminar on “Aerodynamical model of airplane wing tips and its investigation” was held.  The senior research associate of the “Elasticity and plasticity theory”, doctor of phys. math. sci. prof. Ilyasov gave a talk. Over 50 years on experimental aerodynamics has been shown that the wing tips decrease the frontal resistance force of the wing and these constructions are applied in contemporary airplanes. Decrease of frontal resistance force enables to save 2-7 % fuel. However, theoretical investigation of this problem (both analytic and numerical) has not been conducted yet. In the talk, the aerodynamical model of the mentioned effect was first constructed and analytically studied.
