The Azerbaijanian mathematician, doctor of physical-mathematical sciences, professor Arif Salimov was awarded to one of the prestigious prizes of TUBITAK “PPO-Proje Performans”. He is the first Azerbaijanian scientist awarded to this prize. Arif Salimov was born in 1956 in Agsu city of Azerbaijan. In 1973-1978 he was a student of mechanics-mathematics faculty of Baku State University. In 1978-1980 he has worked at the Institute of Cybernetics of NAS of Azerbaijan as an engineer-programmer and in 1980-1983 he has studied “geometry and topology” at Kazan State University’s post graduate courses. In 1984 under the guidance of the famous scientist in geometry V.V. Vishnevskii he has defended the candidate of sciences dissertation. In 1984-1995 he has worked at Baku State Universits in the chair of geometry in various posts. In 1998 he has defended his doctor of science dissertation by speciality “geometry and topology” at Kazan State University. Arif Selimov is the only scientist in Azerbaijan gaining doctor of sciences degree in geometry and topology.
From 1995 he works at Ataturk University of Turkey, and at present he is a professor of mathematics department. He is a world-known scientist with his fundamental results in theory of tensor operators and a new method in lifting theory in the field of differential geometry. 13 students have defended PhD dissertations in mathematics (geometry) under his guidance . He has given over 50 lectures at several international Conferences. He has authored over 100 scientific papers, and many of them have been published in authorative journals of USA, Japan, South Korea, China, India , Holland, Poland, Turkey and others. Arif Salimov’s monograph “Tensor operators and their applications was published in “Nova Science Publishers, Inc. New York” publishing house in series “Mathematics Research Development”.
Three projects managed by him (TBAG-105T551, TBAG-108T590, MFAG-112T111) gained the grants of TUBITAK. His book “Tensor operators and their applications” was awarded to the prize of “AU Bilimsel Teshvik Birincilik Odulu”.
