The weekly Wednesday seminar on September 16, 2015, 10.00 a.m., will present a report Head of the Department of “Theory of functions” Vugar Elman oglu Ismailov. Topic: “Ridge functions and representation of multivariate functions by sums of ridge functions”.

The report addresses the important role of ridge functions in modern applied mathematics. The lecturer will give a broad information on the recently published monograph “A.Pinkus, Ridge functions, Cambridge University Press, 2015”. He will also consider the problem of representation by ridge functions and discuss some necessary and sufficient conditions for the possibility of such representation.
