In 05.04.2017 regular seminar of the department “Equations of Mathematical Physics” was held.
The aim of the seminar is to discuss the main results obtained in the article by C. Gutierrez and F. Tournier “Harnack inequality for a degenerate elliptic equation”. The chief research officer of the department, Professor Farman Mammadov gave information about the above article and about its authors. It was discussed that if in the elliptic equations of a normal divergent structure we abandon a uniform elliptic condition, then the main results of the classical qualitative theory (for example, Harnack’s inequality proved by J. Moser) may be violated. In this paper, the authors prove the validity of the Harnack inequality for a certain class of degenerate equations of a divergent structure.
