Russian mathematician received Clay Research Award


AMEA Riyaziyyat və Mexanika İnstitutuOn April, the laureates of the Clay Research Award became known.
Alexandr Logunov (S-PDU) and Eugenia Malinnikova were awarded with the first prize for their works on spectral geometry, Jason Miller and Scott Sheffield received the second prize for their works on Gauss geometry and open problems in theory of random two-dimensional structure.
Maryna Viazovska (USA, Princeton University) received the third prize for the solution of the problem of dense location of balls in 24-dimensional space.

The Clay Institute Prize is given every year since 1999 for outstanding successes in the field of mathematics. The first laureate of this prize was Andrew Weil that has proved Fermat’s great theorem.
In addition to annual prizes, the Institute gives prizes for the solution of “Problems of Millennium”. In 2010 Gregory Perelman relinquished this prize.
