A prominent educator who wanted to spread modern teaching methods in Tabriz, came to South Caucasus. As he wrote, his goal was to learn new methods of teaching and rules of school opening.
Mirza Hasan Rushdiyya, who lived in Irevan for some time, opened a school in Irevan in 1883. After working hard for five years, he left the school in 1888 and returned to Tabriz with rich experience and opened a new school called “Madrasah – Rushdiye”.But his kindness met the resistance of reactionary people. They closed school because they considered Mirza Hasan Rushdiyya’s schooling as a religious and national treachery.Nevertheless, in 1893, he succeeded in opening a school called ” Ruşdiyye Muzefferiyye”.
Seyid Jafar Pishavari wrote: “Although Mirza Hasan Rushdiyya’s schools were closed nine times, he continued his teaching in the new alphabet in the new school.” This school was the first Azerbaijani language school in the South after the Safavid era . He compiled the “Veten dili” textbook in 1888 and published it in 1894 in Tabriz.
In 1897 Mirza Hasan Rushdiyya first organized a community called “Encumeni” in Tehran and then opened a new school called Rushdiye.
