The first volume of the Encyclopedic directory book “Azerbaijanis Studying at Higher Schools to 2011” co-authored by the director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Misir Mardanov and Professor of Baku Eurasian University Adalat Tahirzadeh, was published in the “Tehsil” publishing house. The book consists of 480 pages.

The scientific editor of the book is the director of the Institute of History of ANAS, the academician of ANAS, professor Mahmudov Yagub Mikayil oglu.

In the publication, the documentary biography of all Muslim statesmen of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the period from 1918 to 1920 is publicly available.

During the Soviet era, it was claimed that in Azerbaijan there were only 62 persons with higher education until 1920. This book reveals that the claim is inaccurate and lies. The book was written after the long-term intensive research in the central archives of cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Saratov, Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa, Tallinn, Tbilisi, etc., on the basis of rich specimens and documents.

The first volume contains information about 77 of our compatriots with their surnames beginning with the letter “A”.
