On 16 June 2021, at 11:00 at the wide-seminar of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS the chief researcher of the Department “Function theory” Rashid Aliev, will speak on the theme “Smoothness problem in representation by sums of ridge functions”.

The approximation of functions of many variables by ridge functions has many applications in computed tomography, mathematical statistics, as well as in neural networks widely used in finance, medicine, mechanical engineering, geology, physics, forecasting and control problems. The report provides detailed information on ridge functions and a partial solution to the problem posed by A.Pinkus on smoothness in ridge functions representation.
