24-27 August in Ufa State Oil Technical University (Ufa, Bashkortostan) held the International Scientific and Practical Conference for students, young scientists, teachers, postgraduates and specialists of oil and gas industry “Technologies of field development and modelling of processes in oil and gas production” dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the founder of the scientific school in the mechanics, development and operation of oil and gas fields, honorary academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Azat Mirzajanzadeh is the founder of the school of fundamental science in the field of mechanics, engineering, technology and development of oil and gas fields.

The Conference was attended by representatives of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics – head of the “Fluid Mechanics” Department, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Professor Geylani Panahov and associate professor Eldar Abbasov. Prof. Geylani Panahov made a plenary report on the contribution of academician Azat Mirzajanzadeh to Azerbaijani science, noting the undeniable contribution of academician Mirzajanzadeh to the creation of a scientific school in Azerbaijan at the intersection of mechanics, applied mathematics, theory and practice of oil business, which later won wide international recognition.

Geylani Panahov and Eldar Abbasov took part in the opening of the educational auditorium named after the Azerbaijan Scientific Auditorium, dedicated to the contribution of Azerbaijani scientists to the development of Bashkir science and education. Our employees took part in the installation of the sculpture bust of Azat Mirzajanzade.

Representatives of IMM also participated in the unveiling of the memorial bas-relief of Academician Azat Mirzajanzade on the wall of the “Institute of Energy Resources Transport Problems”. Within the framework of the solemn event, Prof Geylani Panahov gave an interview to the state television of Bashkortostan, in which he highlighted important moments of scientific and technical cooperation between scientists of Baku and Ufa.

On the second day of the forum the reports of the conference participants were heard in the walls of the Academy of Sciences of Bashkortostan. At the session, Prof. Geylani Panahov was awarded a diploma of the Academy of Sciences as a sign of appreciation of his merits in the development of Azerbaijani-Bashkir scientific-technical cooperation.
