An event on “Labor protection and safety” was held at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Ministry of Science and Education. At the event organized by the Trade Union Committee of the Institute, the department head of the National Hydrometeorology Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan f.r.e.u.f.d. Fuad Khumbatov, the management and employees of the institute participated. The director general of the institute, Misir Mardanov, corresponding member of ANAS, drew attention to the fact that 2024 was declared the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” in Azerbaijan by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev. The scientist assessed the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP29, which is considered one of the world’s largest climate change events, as a historic event. He said that the unanimous agreement of world countries to host COP29 in Azerbaijan is a clear indicator of our country’s international reputation and a sign of the strengthening of our country’s political and economic power. Department head of the National Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who participated in the event, f.r.e.ü.f.d. Fuad Humbatov made a speech on the topic “Climate change impact on labor protection and health”. He noted that one of the main causes of climate change is fuel waste and pollution of the atmosphere as a result of irregular processes in this area. This causes the pollution of the ecology, fauna and flora of our planet, increases the number of diseases among people and leads to the destruction of humanity. The speaker also noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP29, which is considered one of the world’s largest events, will be held in Azerbaijan in November of this year. He pointed out that the COP (Conference of the Parties) is an institution established in March 1995 in Berlin, Germany, to make supreme decisions on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The mission of the COP is to monitor the implementation of the requirements and recommendations arising from the convention. These requirements are mainly to slow the pace of global warming, support the adaptation of areas affected by global warming and achieve zero emissions by 2050.
