A scientific session dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Arif Babayev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical sciences, professor, Honored Scientist, Corresponding Member of ANAS, was held at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The meeting was opened with an introductory speech by the director general of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Corresponding member of ANAS professor Misir Mardanov, who welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of holding such prestigious events. He noted that Arif Babayev’s scientific works were dedicated to the solution of particular integral and singular equations, which have not lost their relevance in all times. For the first time, he obtained the Sigmund estimate for particular integrals when the integration curve is not smooth, and with the help of that estimate, he constructed normal spaces and gave the solution of singular integral equations.

Prof. Misir Mardanov, speaking about the high human qualities of the outstanding scientist, spoke about his unparalleled services in attracting young people to science, training them as talented personnel, and his rich scientific school.

At the event, head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Baku State University (BSU), associate professor Rashid Aliyev made a wide-ranging report on the scientific and organizational activity of the scientist.

Then Academician Yusif Mammadov, Head of the Department of Mathematical-Physical Equations of Baku State University, Professor Hamlet Guliyev, Head of the Department of Mathematical Methods of Management Theory, Professor Mammad Bayramoglu, Senior Researcher of the “Differential Equations” Department of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, General and Application of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University Head of the Department of Mathematics, Professor Araz Aliyev spoke about the scientist’s services in the development of Azerbaijani science and his memories.

At the end of the event, Prof. Misir Mardanov expressed his belief that the esteemed scientist Arif Babayev would always live on in people’s hearts and voiced his proposals for promoting the scholar’s scientific heritage.
