Since January 28, 2000 is the academician of the Russian Academy of Pedagogical and Social sciences, since April 27, 2005 is a foreign member of Russian Academy of Education.
Since April, 2013 is director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS.

Prof. Misir Mardanov has authored 102 scientific papers, 4 monographs, 20 books in mathematics, 25 book in education, 183 papers about education system ,24 of his papers were included into the list of Thomson Reuters agency.
He is editor-in-chief of “Proceedings of the Institute of Mathematics and Mecanics of ANAS”, a member of dissertation Council D 01.111 at IMM and chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute. He has supervised one doctor of sciences, 4 philosophy doctors.
The scientific results obtained by prof. Misir Mardanov: Proved the Pontryagin maximum principle for optimal control problem described by retarded argument equations when neutrality is not contained in the equation; proved first the Pontryagin maximum principle for systems that contain finite number of delays in control function; proved more strong second order necessary conditions for optimality of singular control; suggested more efficient method for solving the Pontryagin maximum principle and proved first and second order conditions for optimality by this method; for the first time proved the similar results for control problems described by distributed parameter Coursat-Darboux equations; for the first time proved a sequence of Kelley, Koop-Mayer and equality type necessary conditions for optimality of control function in the processes with delay in functions.
He continues his studies on obtaining new optimality conditions described by discrete equations.
In 1996-2000, prof. Misir Mardanov was chairman of Defense Council of Phd and doctor’s degree dissertations. He has authored the 4 volume book “History of Azerbaijan Mathematics”.
In 2000 prof. Misir Mardanov was a warded the honored title “Honoured scientist”, in 2006 “Shohrat” order, in 2011 “Honored scientist of Daghistan Republic” by the order of President of the Republic of Daghistan Magomedsalam Magomedov for his contribution to development of scientific cooperation between Daghistan and Azerbaijan Republic. In 2011- 2014 he was president of Turkic world Mathematical Society. Since 2014 he is honored president of Turkish World Mathematical society and vice-president of Azerbaijan Mathematical Society. By the decision of the Presidium of ANAS, the IMM proposed prof. Misir Mardanov as a candidate to the corresponding member of ANAS.
In the general meeting of ANAS, on May 2, 2017 prof. Misir Mardanov was elected a corresponding member of ANAS by the specialty mathematics.
The body of IMM congratulates director of IMM ANAS prof Misir Mardanov on the occasion of his election as corresponding member of ANAS and wishes him a sound health and successes in his scientific and social activity.
