The weekly Wednesday seminar on May 17, 2017, 10.00 a.m., will present a report of the head of the Department of “Function Theory” Vugar Elman oglu Ismailov. Topic: “Representation of the space of continuous functions by sums of algebras”.
The report addresses the problem of representation of the space of real-valued continuous functions, defined on a compact Hausdorff space, by sums of its subalgebras. In the talk, necessary and sufficient conditions for such representation will be discussed. It should be remarked that in the case of only one subalgebra, the corresponding result is due to Marshall Stone.
