The results of the “Discover the universe” photo contest, organized by Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after N. Tusi of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), and sponsored by the Association of Azerbaijani Photographers (AFB), have been announced on November 6.
Photographs reflecting the beauty of the sky were taken by professional photographer and amateurs were accepted from August 11 to September 20. After coding, more than 100 photos submitted by professional and amateur photographers from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Iran and Kazakhstan were estimated by the director of Shamakhy Astrophysical observatory (SAO), corresponding member of ANAS Namik Jalilov, director of ANAS Institute of Architecture and Art, correspondent member of the academy Ertegin Salamzadeh and the jury consisting of chairman of AFB board Mirnaib Hasanoglu. According to the final decision, Ali Ihsan Ozturk won the first place, the second place was taken by Alexander Agababaev, the third place by Etibar Jafarov. In addition, 25 best photos were selected for the exhibition organized at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS.
The winners were given the opportunity to relax in the Astrotourism center ‘Travel to the Universe’, and rewarded with the special diploma and prizes of the observatory.
