Corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Professor Misir Mardanov said: “On January 5 is the 115th anniversary of the birth of the well-known public figure, who led Azerbaijan education by the great talent and great dedication for more than 20 years, prominent representative of pedagogical science, one of the founders of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Honored Scientist, academician Mehdi Mehdizadeh. It was my duty to introduce the general public the history of this great personality in the history of the people’s education.Mehdi Mammad oglu Mehdizade was born on January 5, 1903 in Dashkasan village of Jabrayil province. Dashkasan village was one of the largest villages in the Jabrayil province. Along with religious education in the village there were also secular educators. His father, Mammad, wanted to see his son educated as well as others. His dream was to get his son educated and become a teacher in his native village. In 1914, as in many villages in Azerbaijan, a Russian-language primary school was opened in Dashkasan village. Mehdi was 11 years old when he entered the school. In 1919, 16-year-old Mehdi was one of the first graduates of the Dashkasan village elementary school. In 1920, he began to take part in various cultural events, such as the reading room director in his native village. But his dream was to be a teacher, to teach the children of the nation, to teach knowledge. At the same time, the opening of six-month pedagogical courses in the district center helps fulfill his desire. Young Mahdi studies at this pedagogical course with great enthusiasm and after finishing it he begins teaching in his native village. By the way, let’s note that the month of October 1921, when Mahdi became a teacher, was always remembered with joy as the foundation of all subsequent successful pedagogical activities. From that time, Mehdi Mehdizadeh devoted his life teaching that he loved. He teaches and learns, selflessly engages in seriousness, increases knowledge. Javad Najaf oghlu Cuvarli (1886-1963), inspector of the Azerbaijan People Education Commissioner, prominent educator, graduate of Gori Teachers Seminar (1906) and Tiflis Teachers’ Institute (1907), conducts inspecting at Mehdi Mehdizadeh’s school and witnesses these achievements. According to the higher results of the education, the young teacher Mehdi is rewarded. Together with his father Mammad, his mother, Tamasa khanum, had great efforts in earning these successes.
