Who was Farhad Agazade?


Farhad Aghazadeh was born in 1882 in Shusha city. He received his primary education in Shusha. In 1896 he joined Gori Teachers Seminar and graduated in 1900. He worked in Shusha and Gorus as a two-tiered school teacher.

In 1905 he moved to Baku, where he was appointed as a teacher of the III department of Russian-Azerbaijani school. In 1907, he worked as a teacher at the IV and then I Russian-Azerbaijani school.

Farhad Aghazadeh was closely involved in the creation of Nijat Charitable Society in Azerbaijan, which had its own place in the development of education, and was elected to the board.

Farhad Aghazadeh became the most active member of our intellectuals, after of Mirza Fatali Akhundov, who consistently fought for the new alphabet. He published articles on the Eastern pseudonym in periodicals and wrote a series of alphabet reform articles. He was a true educative fighter who stood in the guard of the Azerbaijani language and fought against those who hindered his development.

Farhad Aghazadeh was one of the 14 members of the new alphabetical committee formed in the Soviet Union.
