A scientific session dedicated to the 110th anniversary of research scientist Yusif Aman Amanzade was held at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. First, the staff of the institute visited the scientist’s grave and laid wreaths and flowers in front of the monument. The event began with a minute’s silence in honor of the dear memory of the scientist. In the scientific session, the general director of ETN Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of ANAS, Misir Mardanov, spoke about the outstanding scientist’s life history, rich creative activity, and his valuable contributions to the mathematical science of Azerbaijan. Professor Misir Mardanov spoke about the important role of Yusif Amanzade in the development of the Azerbaijani science of mechanics and in the upbringing of the generation of mathematical scientists. At the event, Professor Yusif Sevdimaliyev, head of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics and Whole Environment Mechanics of Baku State University, made a speech about the scientist’s life and scientific creativity. He said that Yusif Aman oglu Amanzadeh, a corresponding member of ANAS, graduated from the Oil Mining Faculty of Azerbaijan Industrial Institute (now Azerbaijan State Oil Academy) with honors. In that institute, he rose from the position of assistant to the head of the department. During these years Y.E. Amanzade received the degrees of candidate of sciences and doctorate. From 1959 until the end of his life, he worked as the head of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics at Baku State University. In 1968, Y. A. Amanzadeh was elected a corresponding member of Azerbaijan EA. In 1972, he became a member of the USSR National Committee on “Mechanics”. Yusif Amanzade laid the foundation of deformable solid mechanics at Baku State University. His scientific interest is mainly focused on the study of the state of stress and deformation in a partially homogeneous elastic medium and the contact issues of the theory of elasticity. In this field, he obtained fundamental results, found new solution methods and gave a numerical solution to these problems. Corresponding member of ANAS, Yusif Amanzadeh is the author of the textbooks “Theory of Elasticity” (in Russian and English), “General Course on the Theory of Thin Elastic Coatings”, “The Problem of Smoothness of the Theory of Elasticity” and also the co-author of the monograph “Solution of the communication issues of the theory of elasticity in the USSR”. He has published more than 150 scientific articles. The scientist has trained more than 40 candidates of sciences and 5 doctors of sciences. Speaking at the session, professors Ali Ahmadov, Muhammad Mehtiyev, Nadir Suleymanov, Latif Talibli and Gabil Aliyev talked about the scientist’s scientific achievements, said that he is well known as a prestigious mathematical scientist outside our country, and shared their memories Other speakers at the session also talked about the scientist’s scientific achievements, said that he is well known as an influential mathematical scientist outside our country, and shared their memories of the academician.
