16.06.2021 at the wide-seminar of Institute of the IMM of ANAS the chief researcher of the Department “Function theory” Rashid Aliev made a presentation on the theme “Smoothness problem in representation by sums of ridge functions”

In his report, R.Aliev gave detailed information about ridge functions and approximations of functions of many variables by ridge functions, which has a wide range of applications in computed tomography, mathematical statistics, as well as in neural networks widely used in finance, medicine, and mechanical engineering, in geology, in physics, in forecasting, in problems of classification and control. Then he gave information obtained  with V.Ismailov on the solution of the problem posed by the famous Israeli mathematician A.Pinkus about smoothness in the representation of the sum of ridge functions, commented on the main results obtained on the topic. He answered in detail the questions of corresponding member of ANAS, prof. Q.Panakhov, d.m.s., prof. Z. Aliyev, d.m.s. R.Bandaliyev, d.m.s. F.Mamedov. V.Ismailov took part in the seminar with interesting suggestions on the topic under discussion.
