Under the leadership of the General Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Misir Mardanov, the employees of the institute visited II Alley of Honor on September 26 in connection with “Memorial Day”. During the visit organized by the Trade Union of the Institute, the employees paid tribute to the dear memory of the sons of the Motherland who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, prayed for the souls of the martyrs and laid flowers on their graves.

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, September 27 is celebrated as Memorial Day in Azerbaijan as a sign of deep respect for all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Patriotic War. Azerbaijan always appreciates the bravery of its fighting sons and daughters, respects the souls of all our martyrs, and cherishes their memory.

In response to the military aggression of Armenia, which began on September 27, 2020, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief started the Patriotic War in order to liberate the occupied lands. Soldiers and officers who showed bravery in the struggle for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the people as a whole showed unity and solidarity like a fist and dealt crushing blows to the enemy. Muzaffar repeatedly committed war crimes and violated the norms of international law by resorting to provocations by the enemy who was powerless in the face of the superiority of the Azerbaijani Army in the political and military arena, targeting innocent civilians.

The lands under occupation were liberated at the cost of the blood and lives of heroic martyrs, soldiers and officers, veterans. As a result of the victory of the Azerbaijani army in the Second Karabakh War, the thirty-year longing of the Azerbaijani people ended, and their native lands were freed from enemy occupation at the cost of martyrs’ blood. The victory won as a result of the Patriotic War dealt a crushing blow to the enemy.

Despite the difficulties of the war period, the Azerbaijani army bravely defeated the provocations of the hated enemy and united as a fist around the Commander-in-Chief.

The dear memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland will always live in the hearts of every Azerbaijani and will never be forgotten.

May God have mercy on all our martyrs!
