Today at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics the commemorative event devoted to 85 years of acad. Faramaz Maksudov was held.
At first the participants of the event visited the grave of the academician in Honorable Alley and commemorated him.
The exhibition illustrating the life and activity of the famous mathematician was met with huge interest.
The director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics professor Misir Mardanov opened the meeting and informed the participants about the life and activity of the academician.
Today the academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, doctor of sciences, professor, honoured science worker, a famous scientist in the field of functional analysis and differential equations Faramaz Gazanfar oglu Maksudov would be 85.
Faramaz Gazanfar oglu Maksudov was born on march 20 in 1930 in Nakhchivan
city. In 1954 he has graduated from physics-mathematics faculty of Azerbaijan State University in mathematics specialty with honours degree. Having shown great interest for scientific-research works, Faramaz Maksudov has devoted all his life to science and advanced from ordinary post-graduate student to the President of Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.

F. Maksudov began to his scientific activity as a follower of the outstanding mathematician of Azerbaijan Mathematics School Zahid Khalilov. In 1959 he earned his PhD on the theme “Discreteness of the spectrum of not self-adjoint differential operators, completeness of eigen and adjoint functions”, in 1974 his Doctor of Science degree on the theme “Some problems of spectral theory of continuous spectrum polynomial operator bundles”.

From 1974 to the end of his life F. Maksudov was the director of IMM, in 1976 was elected a corresponding member of Republican Academy of Science, in 1980 the academician of A.S. of Azerbaijan.

At those years very important results in the field of functional analysis differential equations and functions theory were obtained. He has supervised over 100 PhD and doctor of science dissertations and authored over 200 scientific works, 11 monographs and textbooks.

Along with this Faramaz Maksudov being a known social-political figure and one of the founders of Yeni Azerbaijan Party and a leader of “Alinja” society always has supported the politics of the National leader Heydar Aliyev.

Professors of the Institute Mammad Bayramoglu, Nadir Suleymanov, Akper Aliyev, Musa Ilyasov, associate professor Ali Babayev and F. Maksudov’s grandson Elkhan Mammadkhan spoke about life and activity of the academician.

The Azerbaijan Society, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, the collaborators of IMM always commemorate Faramaz Maksudov with great respect.

At the end of the event, the Director of IMM professor Misir Mardanov congratulated our people and our collective on the occasion of Novruz bayram and rewarded the below mentioned collaborators of the Institute with honoured Diploma for their successful work.
